The Island Quarter is a 36-acre development in the city of Nottingham that will feature hotels, offices, living, eating and drinking spaces.

IG Masonry Support was selected for this prestigious programme following the successful completion of similarly complex projects with Lee Marley Brickwork.

The team designed and manufactured 19 Brick Slip Arches for the centrepiece building, The Canal Turn, 17 of which were for ground level and two for the fourth floor.

The IG Masonry Support technical team rose to the challenge of coordinating the brickwork configuration of two deep-soffit arches, which met at a 90° angle at the structure’s ground level corner.

They undertook extensive research and detailed assessments to create a complex system that comprised a volume of steel and brickwork embedded within the structure’s corner section.

Thanks to their design skills, each arch was an identical fit, providing unique features and an aesthetically pleasing finish throughout the build.
