Sectional Brick Slip
Masonry Support Arches
Founded in 1847, Radley College is one of Oxford’s most esteemed independent public schools. When it’s Grade II*- listed chapel underwent expansion, Purcell designed a new sanctuary with an octagonal plan form, approached through a series of stone and rubbed brick arches from the nave.
Selected for the project because of their expertise in prefabricated sectional arches, IG Masonry Support designed solutions for four new apse openings and two ante sanctuary brick arches. These were elegant structures and the six bespoke designed sectional Brick Slip Masonry Support Arches included some intricate brick detailing to meet the architect’s imaginative design.
As well as the aesthetic appeal, the prefabricated system also ensured a timely and cost-efficient installation that no traditional brickwork technique could have achieved.
