Upon completion of ‘on-the-job training’, the successful candidates will be expected to work on their own initiative within a vibrant IG Masonry Support Team, and liaise directly with our customers.

Job Skills & Qualifications:

• 2:1 Degree from Engineering-related discipline e.g. Stuctural Engineering
• Experience working with traditional materials (timber, steel and concrete)
• Ability to deliver major structural projects
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Manufacturing drawings
• Focused on Customer Service
• Good organisational skills
• Target driven & ambitious
• Excellent communication skills

 

Job Description:

• Working closely on construction plans with clients, architects, and other professionals
• Developing design ideas using CAD software
• Investigating the properties of materials like glass, steel and concrete, and advising which is most suitable
• Working out the loads and stresses on different parts of a structure
• Using computer simulations to predict how structures will react under different conditions
• Inspecting unsafe buildings and recommending options for repairs or demolition
• Making sure that projects meet legal guidelines, environmental directives, and health and safety requirements
• Preparing bids for tenders
• Supervising project teams
• Giving progress reports to clients and senior managers
• preparing reports, designs and drawings
• making calculations about loads and stresses
• selecting appropriate construction materials
• providing technical advice
• obtaining planning and/or building regulations approval
• monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors
• administering contracts
• Inspecting properties to check conditions/foundations.
• Overseeing the progress of design projects within the team, from enquiry to issue of deliverables
