Purpose of the Job:
As Commercial Manager, based in Swadlincote, you will be responsible for supplying management with detailed reports, budget information broken down to sales areas, salesman and product. Interrogating sales history and financial systems to produce detailed reports on volume, turnover, haulage, standard variable costs and profit against a budget or target. Creating a customer profitability model in excel taking into account all revenue and costs attributable to the customers, including customer margin and rebate influences, in order to give our sales personnel and account managers appropriate information to negotiate trading terms and project prices. You will also assume direct line management responsibility for the Contract Sales team.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Manage team performance and motivate, set challenging goals and objectives for the team, mentor and develop direct & indirect reports. Ensure that the team works in line with regional and company objectives.
- Manage appraisals, PDP’s, training etc. in line with Company policy and procedure.
- Develop measurement tools to support DSM’s and Sales Force to provide reporting to Board.
- Investigate and measure Group presence with Top Builders and Top Contractors.
- Analyse relevant reports/data to identify areas for improvements.
- Facilitate communication channels and reporting between Builder Team and DSM/GSM/KSM’s.
- Complaint handling; ensuring minimal exposure of cost to business whilst satisfying customer experience.
- Ensure good communication in complaint handling with Sales Force and Operations/SOP.
- Ensure Referral Procedure is maintained.
- Develop and facilitate strong communication network between the External Sales Team and Contract Sales Team.
- Provide feedback to Marketing from Customers and Sales Team to aid future activity.
- Monitor and measure systems for Business Development initiatives.
- Provide support and structure for Feed Back Friday reports.
- Support and co-ordinate any future CRM and BI Tools.
Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent, applicants must have experience in a similar role, with the ability to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills. Must have excellent excel skills and be a confident user of Navision or similar Microsoft based programmes.
